Shadi Urdu Poetry

Shaadii men kuchh Gam ke pahaloo nikal aate hain
Besaakhtaa hansane men aansoo nikal aate hain
[Saqib]

[besaakhtaa = suddenly]

Ye roz-marraa ke kuchh waaqeyaat-e-shaadii wa Gam
Mere Khudaa yahii insaan kii zindagaanii hai
[Abdul Hameed Adam]

[roz-marraa = daily; waaqeyaat = incidents]

Baham ik mukhtasar se dil men hai shaadii wa Gam donon
Ye chhotaa saa makaan aur is men dozakh bhii hai jannat bhii
[Unknown]

[baham = together; mukhtasar = small; dozakh = hell; jannat = heaven]

Sahir manages to impart a sad tinge to a happy event like 'shaadii' declaring it to be the end of love In his nazm titled 'Khaanaaaabaadii', recited at his friend's wedding, he starts off on a happy note:

Taraane goonj utthe hain fazaa men shaadiyaanon ke
Hawaa hai itraagiin zarraa zarraa muskuraataa hai

[itraagiin = fragrant]

But ends with:

Ye shaadii Khaanaaaabaadii ho mere mohatarim bhaaii
Mubaarak kah nahiin sakataa meraa dil kaanp jaataa hai

[mohatarim = dear]
